FAQs

If you have ANY questions about us, our auctions, or the charities we support then you have come to the right place.  If you have other questions not answered here, please read over our FAQs on the Auction BB: FAQ's and Tech. Issues Forum  If you still haven't found your answer, then please email us at: equinecharities@talkamerica.net.

Q.  So how do I know that the Charity I want to donate to is truly non-profit and legitimate?

A.  Do your research!  For more information on this, please go to the following link:

501(c) 3 Info and resources.

So who started this Equine Charities thing anyway, and why?

The Auctions were started by a fellow poster and I on an Equine BB I post on, www.Chronicleforums.com, when we all wanted a way to raise money for the horses in Colorado who at the time had been rescued from severe conditions.  We then decided to branch out and start helping ALL the 501(c)3 non-profit equine charities we could across the USA and even Canada.  I started this website as a way to continue helping the charities even when we didn't have any auctions going on.

As for who I am, my name is Kat and I am a 28 year-old mom to my 2 1/2 year-old son, Tyler, a wife to my husband who manages a cattle farm, and "mom" to 5 dogs, 2 miniature horses, 2 ponies, and 2 horses.  My husband and I live on a private 500-acre farm that we manage in Northwest Georgia.  I have been riding since the age of 8 and showing hunters, jumpers, and dressage since I was 12.  I have also galloped, groomed, broke, and cared for Thoroughbred racehorses and broodmares.

SO, why do it? Are you making a profit?

I have SO many people ask me that and question my sanity as well, I think, so here goes.  No, I do not get a penny from the money raised through donations and proceeds from our Auctions.  I started this because I DON'T have a lot of money and it was the only way I could think of to be able to help some of the wonderful horse rescues we have here in the US.

It was also the only way I could think of to repay my beloved Val for the 4 1/2 wonderful years that he gave to me.  Sadly he broke his leg June 17th and had to be euthanized at the age of 15, but he will never be forgotten.

The main reason though is because I feel like the Lord has called me to do this - what better reason is there then that?

OK, so maybe you haven't totally lost it, but how can I help?

There is PLENTY!  Check out our "Favorite Equine Charities" on our Links page and donate to one of the wonderful charities listed. If you don't have any money to spare and live close enough, then think about donating your time to one of the charities.  Volunteers are ALWAYS needed and welcomed in most cases - just be sure and call ahead!  If you don't live near any of them, then give your tack room, trailer, and house a good spring cleaning and donate some of your unwanted tack.  Some itms that are almost always needed in most rescues are:

- Halters

- Leadropes

- Leg Wraps

- Suppliments - Joint Suppliments, electrolytes, weight-builders, etc.

- Tack - briddles, saddles, surcingles, etc.

- Bell Boots

- Grooming supplies

- Horse Treats

- Medication - Bute, Banimine, etc.

- Vet wrap, syringes, needles (unused, of course)

- Vet supplies - Liniments, First-aid ointments, etc.

- Fly Masks

- Hay, feed, shavings

- Blankets, sheets, coolers, fly sheets, etc - all sizes and kinds
